Slade's Music press articles of note
1970
Slade manager Chas Chandler was desperate for his new charges to make it, he would try anything at all to push the band into the psyche' of the nation. At the time the Skinhead movement was still going strong, and despite Skins liking ska, reggae and Motown based sounds, Chandler decided that it would be a masterstroke to have the band shorn of their locks to become the nations first Skinhead band. That was in 1969, and now into 1970 the band were beginning to see that it had backfired.
