Slade's Music press articles of note
1971
As 1970 gave way to 1971, Slade were desperate for a change in their fortunes after the failure of their 'Play It Loud' album, the singles 'The Shape Of Things To Come' or 'Know Who You Are', all released on their new Polydor record deal to trouble the national charts during 1970 .
Despite the lack of record sales, Slade had been steadily building up a fervent and loyal audience as they slogged their way around the country gigging anywhere and everywhere that manager Chas Chandler could get them into following their misguided effort to gain good publicity by joining the Skinhead movement of the early 70's
1971 however was to be the bands breakthrough year as first they charted with 'Get Down With It' following that up with their first #1 chart topper 'Coz I Luv You.'
