Slade's Music press articles of note
1974
The highs and lows of 1973 were now fading and the new year would see Slade sitting prettily at the top of the national singles charts with their now Christmas classic single 'Merry Xmas Everybody.'.
The momentum however was gone, and the heady days of massive number 1 hits were never to be repeated as the band tried once again to break the US market. Despite UK and European tours Slade asa brand had taken their eye off of the ball, the fickle nature of their fan base was now moving towards other teen bands leaving Slade to consolodate and move away from them and try for a more mature audience.
Slade were also distracted by the filming schedule for the film 'Flame', a departure for the band and one that in later years members of the band would point at and say it was the start of the decline.
None of the three singles that were released, 'Everyday', 'The Banging Man' or 'Far Far Away' would top the charts.... What did the serious Music Press make of them and how was it reported? Let's see!
